It reminded me again of what a difference it makes when you feel like you have a strong purpose for your life. I’ve heard it said along the lines of bringing something to the world that you contribute rather than just being a consumer all the time. For some it is art or writing. For me it is my family and the encouragement that I provide my clients and the support I give to kids and families involved in foster care.
Having a purpose gives you a reason to care for yourself! It gives a deeper layer of importance to what otherwise might feel self-indulgent.
