So, how did I end up here? What makes me qualified to help people achieve their health dreams? My training includes an undergraduate degree from Messiah College in Athletic Training and I am a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association. I also earned a masters degree in Health and Human Performance from Oklahoma State University. After working as a coach for a few years, I worked through classes and exams for about 9 months to become a certified Health and Wellness Coach through Wellcoaches which is affiliated with the American College of Sports Medicine. Not to mention years of continuing education that all of those certifications require … But much more fun than my education is my experience working with actual people and putting that knowledge into practice! For more than 15 years, my work days have been spent in a series of intentional conversations with individuals that ultimately lead to building their greater health. I have seen hundreds of people decrease if not completely get rid of their need for medications. Conditions like blood pressure, cholesterol, and even diabetes can be reversed through lifestyle interventions. I am sure thousands of pounds have been lost (and kept off!). Fitness levels have increased. Energy has increased by leaps and bounds! Joint pain has decreased. I have even worked with several people who believed they would need weight loss surgery because they had “tried it all” and didn’t think they were capable of taking control of their own health … until they connected with me! I have worked with teenagers, college students, busy professionals, stay-at-home moms, and retirees. I have worked with athletes, former athletes, weekend warriors, and people who cringed at just the thought of exercise! It is very rewarding to wake up each day going to work knowing that through what you are doing, you have already prevented hundreds, if not thousands of families from having to deal with the fall-out of a diabetes, heart disease, or cancer diagnosis. How about you? We all have different callings and passions. I’d love to hear what you are doing in your work … professional or otherwise. What exciting impacts are you having that gets you out of bed each morning? Comment below to tell me about it!
